Effect of borneol on the tissue distribution of notoginseng R1, ginsenoside Rg1 and Re in rabbits
AIM: To establish a method for determination of notoginseng R1, ginsenoside Rgl and Re in rabbit tissue by solid-phase extraction-high performance liquid chromatography ( SPE-HPLC) , and investigate the effect of borneol on the tissue distribution of notoginsenoside R1, ginsenoside Rgl and Re in Panax notoginseng in rabbits. METHODS: Rabbits were divided into 3 groups of control, Panax notoginseng and compatable randomly, and were sacrificed at 30.0 min to collect the tissues of heart, liver, brain, spleen and kidney after administration. The tissuesamples were homogenated and the suspension were collected for further use. SPE method was used to remove the interference substance prior to the collection of 70% methanol elution. HPLC method was employed for the determination of the above three saponins. RESULTS: The contents of the three saponins were all increased obviously in the tissues, and the increasing intend of notoginsenoside Rl is the most obvious. CONCLUSION: Borenol could increase the distributions of notoginsenoside R1, ginsenoside Rgl and Re to tissue, and enhanced the therapeutic effect of Panax notoginseng.
