Definition and Characteristics of Tourism Rail Transit
Tourism rail transit(TRT)encompasses both tourism and rail transit aspects. This paper examines the definition of TRT and underscores its advantages over road traffic. As a distinct application of rail transit,TRT has characteristics that differ from general urban rail transit. Thus, the direct adaptability of urban rail transit experience to TRT is not recommended. From the perspectives of planning, design, operation, and economy, this paper summarizes the main features of TRT,including relatively small scale, low sensitivity to speed, favorable economic benefits, and high landscape requirements.Based on these characteristics,a suitable system of mid-to low-volume rail transit is proposed, along with some development suggestions.
