Study on the Suppression Efficacy of Filter Closing Inrush Currents by Shunt Dynamic Closing Resistor of Circuit Breaker
The circuit breaker shunt closing resistor is a common method used to reduce the inrush current of the AC filter in converter stations. However,it has been observed that a fixed-value resistor does not effectively limit the inrush current. This article proposes a scheme for suppressing inrush current in circuit breakers using parallel dynamic closing resistors to address this issue. The study focuses on the Tianshan converter station and builds a simulation model to calculate the filter closing inrush. The effectiveness of linear and nonlinear dynamic resistors in suppressing the inrush current is analyzed for four filters(HP24/36,BP11/13,HP3,and SC).The study also considers factors such as phase selection closing and action duration,as well as the impact on the voltage stress of the filter's main capacitor. The results demonstrate that dynamic resistors have a significantly better suppression effect on the filter's inrush current than fixed-value resistors. They also effectively limit the voltage amplitude of the filter's main capacitor.Based on the characteristics of the four resistance attenuation trends, the article proposes an optimal change in the resistance of the dynamic resistor.
