Serological Investigation and Analysis of Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synovialum in Main Breeding Areas of Wenchang Chickens in Hainan Province
In order to investigate the infections of Mycoplasma gallisepticum(MG)and Mycoplasma syno-vialum(MS)in Wenchang chicken breeding area of Hainan province,1 726 blood samples of Wenchang chickens without MG and MS vaccine were collected from 13 chicken farms of different scales in four major breeding areas of Wenchang chickens in Haikou,Wenchang,Qionghai and Danzhou.Serum antibodies to MG and MS were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The results showed that the total positive rates of MG and MS were 42.00%and 31.75%,respectively.The positive rate of MG antibody in Qionghai was the highest, reaching 68.00%.The positive rate of MS antibody was the highest in Danzhou(36.67%).The incidence of MG was high in winter, and the positive rate of antibody was 47.48%.The inci-dence of MS was high in summer and autumn, and the positive rates of antibody were 37.85%and 35.87%.The antibodies positive rates of MG and MS in adult Wenchang chickens were higher than those in chicks and growing chickens(P<0.05),which were 74.45%and 59%,respectively.The positive rates of MG and MS antibody in small scale farms were 54.10%and 46.45%,respectively.The positive rate of MG antibody in commercial layer was the highest in Wenchang chickens, reaching 83.33%,and the positive rate of MS antibody in commercial broilers was the highest, reaching 37.4%.The results showed that MG and MS in-fections were common in the main chicken breeding areas of Wenchang,Hainan province. It is suggested that all breeding areas should strengthen the prevention and control of MG and MS in Wenchang chickens to reduce the incidence of disease.
