The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate the nutritional value of fermented corn steep liquor and to explore its effects on growth performance and serum biochemical indices of finishing pigs.In experiment 1,the available energy values and apparent digestibility of nutrients of fermented corn steep liquor to pigs were determined by total collection method.Twelve"Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire"crossbred castrated boars with an initial body weight of(27.60±2.50)kg were randomly divided into 2 groups with 6 replicates per group and 1 pig per replicate.Pigs in the control group were fed a corn-soybean meal type basal diet, and the others in the experimental group were fed a diet with fermented corn steep liquor instead of 24.25%energy supply compo-nent in the basal diet. The experiment lasted for 12 days, including 7 days of dietary adaptation period and 5 days of feces and urine collection period. In experiment 2,the digestibility of amino acids in terminal ileum of fermented corn steep liquor was determined by nitrogen-free diet and semi-homozygous diet method.Six"Du-rocxLandracexYorkshire"crossbred castrated boars with initial body weight of(37.17±1.17)kg and simple T-fistula were randomly divided into 2 groups with 3 pigs in each group.A 2×2 Latin square design was adopt-ed,including 2 experimental periods and 2 dietary treatments. Each experiment lasted for 7 days, including 5 days of dietary adaptation period and 2 days of chyme collection period. The experimental diets included one corn starch-sucrose based nitrogen-free diet and one test diet containing 40%fermented corn steep liquor. In ex-periment 3,a total of 192"Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire"crossbred pigs with an initial body weight of(82.30±5.85)kg were randomly divided into 4 groups with 6 replicates per group and 8 pigs per replicate(half male and half female).Pigs in the control group(CON group)were fed a corn-soybean meal-wheat bran type basal diet, and the others in the experimental groups were fed the basal diets with 4%(FCSL4 group),8%(FCSL8 group)and 12%(FCSL12 group)replacement proportion of fermented corn steep liq-uor,respectively.The experiment lasted for 35 days. The results showed as follows:1)the apparent digestible energy and apparent metabolizable energy of fermented corn steep liquor were 10.78 and 9.71 MJ/kg,respec-tively.Compared with corn-soybean meal type basal diet, the apparent digestibility of crude protein and neutral detergent fiber in fermented corn steep liquor diet was significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the apparent di-gestibility of ether extract was significantly increased(P<0.05).2)The standard digestibility of lysine,threo-nine,methionine and tryptophan in terminal ileum were 66.69%,66.46%,76.76%and 85.99%,respective-ly,and the standard digestibility of other amino acids in terminal ileum was 54.89%to 89.00%.3)Compared with CON group, there was no significant change in growth performance of finishing pigs with the increase of dietary replacement proportion of fermented corn steep liquor(P>0.05).4)The serum urea nitrogen content in FCSL12 group was significantly lower than that in FCSL8 group(P<0.05),but there were no significant differences compared with CON group(P>0.05).Compared with CON group, the serum total antioxidant ca-pacity(T-AOC)in FCSL12 group was extremely significantly decreased(P<0.01),but there were no signif-icant differences among the other 3 groups(P>0.05).With the dietary replacement proportion of fermented corn steep liquor increasing, the serum contents of immunoglobulin A(IgA)and immunoglobulin M(IgM)showed an increasing trend, and the serum contents of IgA and IgM in FCSL12 group were significantly higher than those in CON group(P<0.05).In conclusion, dietary supplementation of fermented corn steep liquor in-stead of energy supply component has no effect on growth performance of finishing pigs, but can improve the immune capacity of pigs. When the replacement proportion of fermented corn steep liquor is 4%and 8%,the antioxidant capacity of finishing pigs is not affected;and when the replacement proportion of fermented corn steep liquor is 12%,the antioxidant capacity of finishing pigs is significantly reduced. Therefore, the suitable replacement proportion of fermented corn steep liquor in the diet for finishing pigs is 8%.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2023,35(12):7668-7679]
