To investigate the effects of different CP levels on the secretion performance of muskrats,60 one-year-old muskrats were randomly divided into 5 groups(6 replicates per group,1 male and 1 female muskrat per replicate, only male muskrats were sampled),fed diets with CP levels of 16%,18%,20%,22%and 24%,for a pre-feeding period of 10 days and a trial period of 73 days. The results showed as follows:1)on the 12th day of the experiment, the fragrance production of muskrat in 22%group was the highest, and the fra-grance production of muskrat in 24%group was the lowest, and it was significantly lower than that in 18%,20%and 22%groups(P<0.05).On the 36th and 63rd day of the experiment, the fragrance production of muskrat in 22%group was significantly higher than that in other groups(P<0.05),but there was no signifi-cant difference among other groups(P>0.05).With the increase of dietary CP level, the total fragrance pro-duction of muskrats in 18%and 20%groups was increased, and the total fragrance production of muskrats in 22%group was the highest, and significantly higher than that in other groups(P<0.05).When dietary CP lev-el was further increased to 24%,the total fragrance production of muskrats began to decrease and was lower than that in other experimental groups, but the difference was not significant(P>0.05).2)There was no sig-nificant difference in moisture content of fragrance liquid between groups(P>0.05),but the content of cyclo-pentadecanone in fragrance liquid in 22%group was significantly higher than that in other groups(P<0.05),the lowest content was in 24%group.3)The contents of blood testosterone and estradiol showed an upward trend with increasing dietary CP level, and the contents of testosterone and estradiol in 20%,22%and 24%groups were significantly higher than those in 16%group(P<0.05).4)The serum urea nitrogen(UN)con-tent in 16%group was the lowest and significantly lower than that in other groups(P<0.05),and the serum UN content in 22%group was the highest, and significantly higher than that in 20%group(P<0.05).The se-rum total protein(TP)content in 24%group was the lowest, which was significantly lower than that in other groups(P<0.05);serum albumin(ALB)content in 16%group was the lowest, and significantly lower than that in other groups(P<0.05),and significantly higher than that in 16%and 24%groups(P<0.05).These results indicate that the dietary CP levels affect the secretion performance of muskrats.Muskrats have the high-est scent production, better quality of muskrat fragrance when dietary CP level is 22%.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2023,35(12):8001-8012]
