Effects of Black Soldier Fly on Laying Performance,Reproductive Organ Development,Serum Reproductive Hormone Indexes and Antioxidant Capacity of Laying Hens after Forced Moulting
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of black soldier fly on laying performance, reproductive organ development, serum reproductive hormone indexes and antioxidant capacity of laying hens after forced molting.A total of 600 Jinghong laying hens at 980 days of age after forced molting for 40 days were randomly divided into 4 groups with 5 replicates per group and 30 hens per replicate. The control group(group C)was fed a basal diet without black soldier fly,and the black soldier fly low-dose group(group L),black soldier fly medium-dose group(group M)and black soldier fly high-dose group(group H)were supple-mented with 50,100 and 150 g/kg black soldier fly larvae based on the basal diet, respectively. The experi-ment lasted for 42 days. The results showed as follows:1)compared with group C,the laying rate on days 1 to 7,8 to 14 and 15 to 21 of groups L,M and H was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the laying rate on days 36 to 42 of group M was significantly increased(P<0.05);the feed to egg ratio on days 1 to 7,8 to 14,15 to 21,29 to 35 and 36 to 42 of groups L,M and H was significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the feed to egg ratio on days 22 to 28 of group M was significantly decreased(P<0.05).2)Compared with group C,the follicle number before ovulation on day 21 of group M was significantly increased(P<0.05),the small yellow follicle number on day 21 and day 42 of group L was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the oviduct length on day 21 of group H was significantly increased(P<0.05).3)Compared with group C,the serum luteini-zing hormone(LH)content on day 21 of groups L,M and H was significantly increased(P<0.05),the ser-um follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)content on day 21 of group L was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the serum prolactin(PRL)content on day 42 of groups M and H was significantly decreased(P<0.05).4)Compared with group C,the ovarian glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity on day 21 of groups L and M was significantly increased(P<0.05),the ovarian total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)on day 21 of groups M and H was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the ovarian catalase(CAT)activity on day 21 of groups M and H was significantly increased(P<0.05).5)Compared with group C,the oviduct GSH-Px activity on day 21 of group L was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the oviduct T-AOC on day 21 of group L was significantly increased(P<0.05).In conclusion, the supplementation of black soldier fly for laying hens after forced molting can improve the serum reproductive hormone content and reproductive organ antioxidant capaci-ty of laying hens, and improve the laying performance of laying hens after forced molting, among which the supplementation of 100 g/kg black soldier fly has the best effects.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(1):255-266]
