Metabolizable Energy and Crude Protein Requirements of Huaibei Partridge Chickens Aged from 80 to 120 Days
The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects metabolizable energy and crude protein re-quirements of Huaibei partridge chickens aged from 80 to 120 days according the evaluation indexes such as growth performance, slaughter performance, meat quality, muscle biochemical and antioxidant indexes.A total of 810 eighty-day-old Huaibei partridge chickens were selected and randomly divided into 9 groups with 6 rep-licates per group and 15 chickens per replicate.A 2-factor 3-level experimental design was used, and 3 metabo-lizable energy levels(12.56,12.77 and 12.98 MJ/kg)and 3 crude protein levels(15%,16% and 17%)were designed, formulated into 9 experimental diets. The experiment lasted for 40 days. The results showed as follows:1)the average daily feed intake(ADFI)at metabolic energy level of 12.98 MJ/kg was significantly higher than that at other levels(P<0.05);the average daily gain(ADG)at crude protein level of 17%was significantly higher than that at other levels(P<0.05),and the feed to gain ratio(F/G)was significantly low-er than those at other levels(P<0.05).The metabolic energy and crude protein levels had significant interac-tion on the ADFI(P<0.05).2)The dressing percentage,semi-eviscerated percentage and eviscerated percent-age at metabolic energy level of 12.98 MJ/kg were significantly higher than those at other levels(P<0.05),and the semi-eviscerated percentage and eviscerated percentage at crude protein level of 16%were significantly higher than those at other levels(P<0.05).The metabolic energy and crude protein levels had significant inter-action on dressing percentage and eviscerated percentage(P<0.05).3)The breast muscle yellowness(b*)value at metabolic energy level of 12.98 MJ/kg was significantly lower than that at other levels(P<0.05),and the breast muscle cooking loss was significantly higher than that at other levels(P<0.05).4)The hard-ness and gumminess of leg muscle at metabolic energy level of 12.77 MJ/kg were significantly higher than those at other levels(P<0.05),and the springiness and gumminess of leg muscle at crude protein level of 16%and 17%were significantly higher than those at crude protein level of 15%(P<0.05).5)The content of lactic acid(LD)in leg muscle and breast muscle at metabolic energy level of 12.56 MJ/kg was significantly lower than that at other levels(P<0.05),and the breast muscle catalase(CAT)activity was significantly low-er than that at other levels(P<0.05);the breast muscle malondialdehyde(MDA)content at crude protein lev-el of 15%was significantly lower than that at other levels(P<0.05),and the breast muscle glutathione peroxi-dase(GSH-Px)activity was significantly higher than that at other levels(P<0.05).Comprehensive each in-dex,according the evaluation indexes of growth performance and muscle biochemical and antioxidant indexes, the metabolizable energy and crude protein requirements of Huaibei partridge chickens aged from 80 to 120 days are 12.56 MJ/kg and 15%,respectively;according the evaluation indexes of slaughter performance, the metabolizable energy and crude protein requirements of Huaibei partridge chickens aged from 80 to 120 days are 12.98 MJ/kg and 16%,respectively.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(1):279-294]
