Study on Energy Requirements of 20 to 35 kg Chuanzhong Black Male Goats
This experiment was conducted to study the energy requirements of 20 to 35 kg Chuanzhong black male goats,to provide nutritional requirements parameters for scientific breeding of Chuanzhong black goats.Using a comparative slaughter test method,twenty-two 2.5-month-old Chuanzhong black goat male kids with body weight of(19.97±5.47)kg were selected, four lambs were slaughtered at the beginning of the experi-ment,and other eighteen lambs were divided into 3 feeding level groups(six lambs in each group):ad libitum feeding group(AL group),75% ad libitum feeding group(AL75 group)and 60% ad libitum feeding group(AL60 group). The experimental goats were fed in a single cage, and the experiment lasted for 96 days. The digestive and metabolic experiment was conducted at 4 days before the end of the feeding experiment, and whole feces and urine were collected.the feeding experiment was ended when the body weight of experimental goats of AL group reached 35 kg,four goats in each group were selected and slaughtered, and the carcass was frozen to be tested. The results showed as follows:1)the maintenance net energy requirement of 20 to 35 kg Chuanzhong black goats was 178.24 kJ/(kg BW0.75·d),the maintenance metabolic energy requirement was 263.74 kJ/(kg BW0.75·d),and the metabolic energy maintenance and utilization efficiency(km)was 0.68.2)The net energy requirement for growth of 20 to 35 kg Chuanzhong black goats with daily weight gain of 100 to 300 g/d was 0.99 to 3.71 MJ/d,the metabolic energy requirement for growth was 3.15 to 11.78 MJ/d,and the metabolic energy growth and utilization efficiency was 0.31.This study can provide data reference for the improvement of local breed meat and sheep breeding standards in China.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutri-tion,2024,36(1):428-437]
