Nutritional Value Evaluation of Oat Hay for Feeding Meat Rabbits
The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate the nutritional value of oat hay and provide nutrition-al parameters for the application of oat hay in rabbit compound feed. The test was divided into two parts:the a-nalysis of the nutritional components of oat hay and the determination of the digestion parameters of feeding meat rabbits. The samples of the analysis of nutritional components were selected from 34 batches of oat hay from Gansu Provine. The digestion test selected the representative oat hay(there was a little difference between nutrient composition and average measured value)of the above 34 batches.Digestion test used the total collec-tion method:forty 70-day-old New Zealand white rabbits with an average body weight of(2.2±0.2)kg were randomly divided into 2 groups with 20 rabbits(half male and half female)per group, and the rabbits were single fed in a metabolic cage.Rabbits in the control group were fed a basal diet, and those in the experimental group were fed the experimental diet(85%basal diet+15%oat hay). The pre-trial period lasted for 10 days, and the experimental period lasted for 7 days. The results showed as follows:1)gross energy(GE)and the contents of dry matter(DM),crude protein(CP),ether extract(EE),crude ash(Ash),calcium(Ca),phosphorus(P),nitrogen free extract(NFE),crude fiber(CF),neutral detergent fiber(NDF),acid deter-gent fiber(ADF)and acid detergent lignin(ADL)of oat hay were 15.33 MJ/kg,89.60%,9.71%,2.02%,12.54%,1.13%,0.21%,34.50%,30.83%,48.25%,38.87%and 5.58%,respectively;the apparent di-gestibility of them for meat rabbits were 42.51%,50.15%,56.58%,83.56%,25.12%,27.86%,20.36%,65.23%,28.87%,45.25%,30.87%and-5.86%,respectively.2)The contents of total amino acids(TAA),lysine(Lys),threonine(Thr),methionine(Met),arginine(Arg),cysteine(Cys),histidine(His),valine(Val),leucine(Leu),isoleucine(Iso),phenylalanine(Phe)and tyrosine(Tyr)of oat hay were 8.67%,0.53%,0.45%,0.09%,0.49%,0.12%,0.22%,0.54%,0.09%,0.43%,0.46%and 0.26%,respectively;the apparent digestibility of them for meat rabbits were 58.23%,60.23%,62.52%,70.12%,68.25%,65.23%,58.23%,55.24%,62.35%,54.23%,59.68%and 63.25%,respectively.The results indicate that compared with alfalfa hay,the CP and EE contents of oat hay is low,the CF,NDF and ADF contents are high, the ADL content is low,the Ash content is high, and more Ca and less P.There are bigger differences in the digestibility of nutrients in oat hay for meat rabbits. The digestibility of GE,DM,CP,EE,NFE and limiting amino acids(LAA)is higher, the digestibility of fiber components is general, and the digestibility of Ash,Ca,P and non-limiting amino acids is lower.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(1):498-506]
