Effects of Diets with Different Proportions of Sugarcane Tops on Growth Performance,Serum Biochemical Indexes and Meat Quality of Meat Rabbits
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of diets with different proportions of sugar-cane tops on growth performance, serum biochemical indexes and meat quality of meat rabbits. The experiment selected 240 New Zealand weaned white rabbits, randomly divided into 4 groups, with 6 replicates in each group and 10 rabbits in each replicate. The rabbits were fed experimental diets with 0(group A),33%(group B),66%(group C)and 100%(group D)sugarcane tops replacement alfalfa, respectively. The feeding ex-periment lasted for 49 days, the pre-test period lasted for 7 days, and the trial period lasted for 42 days. The results showed as follows:1)compared with group A,adding different proportions of sugarcane tops to the di-et of meat rabbits had no significant effect on the average daily feed intake and survival rate of meat rabbits(P>0.05),but significantly affected average daily gain and feed to gain ratio(P<0.05);the average daily gain and feed to gain ratio in group B were not significantly different from group A(P>0.05),but with dieta-ry sugarcane tops proportions increasing, the average daily gain significantly decreased(P<0.05),the feed to gain ratio significantly increased(P<0.05).2)Compared with group A,adding different proportions of sugar-cane tops to the diet of meat rabbits had no significant effect on total protein, albumin, urea nitrogen, total cholesterol contents and alkaline phosphatase, alanine transaminase activities in the serum of meat rabbits(P>0.05),but had a significant effect on serum glucose and triglycerides contents(P<0.05);with dietary sugar-cane tops proportions increasing, the contents of serum glucose and triglycerides contents significantly increased(P<0.05).3)Compared with group A,adding different proportions of sugarcane tops to the diet of meat rab-bits had a significant effect on rabbit slaughter performance(P<0.05),but had no significant effect on the muscle chemical composition, meat color,pH45 min,pH24 h,and drip loss of dorsal and leg muscles of meat rabbits(P>0.05);with dietary sugarcane tops proportions increasing, the half carcass weight and full carcass weight of meat rabbits showed a significant decrease trend(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in full carcass weight rate(P>0.05).In conclusion, replacing alfalfa with 33%sugarcane tops in the diet of meat rabbits has no adverse effects on growth performance, serum biochemical indexes, slaughter performance and meat quality of meat rabbits.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(1):528-536]
