Effects of Kelp Hydrolysate on Growth Performance,Meat Quality and Intestinal Morphology of Growing-Finishing Pigs
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of kelp hydrolysate on growth performance, meat quality and intestinal health of growing-finishing pigs.A total of 200 growing-finishing pigs[(45.3± 7.5)kg]were randomly divided into 5 groups(5 replicates per group and 8 pigs per replicate):the control group were fed a basal diet, and pigs in the experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 5,10,15 and 25 kg/t kelp hydrolysate, respectively. The experiment lasted for 84 days. The results showed as follows:compared with the control group,1)dietary supplemented with 10 kg/t kelp hydrolysate significantly decreased the ratio of feed to gain in the whole period(P<0.05),and significantly increased the average daily gain on days 29 to 56(P<0.05);2)the supplementation of 15 kg/t kelp hydrolysate significantly increased the redness value of longissimus muscle of slaughter back(P<0.05);3)adding 15 and 25 kg/t of kelp hy-drolysate significantly increased the villus height of jejunum and ileum of finishing pigs(P<0.05).In conclu-sion,addition of kelp hydrolysate can improve pig growth performance, meat quality and intestinal morpholo-gy;based on the results of this experiment, adding 10 to 15 kg/t of kelp hydrolysate into the growing-finishing pig diet is suggested.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(3):1549-1561]
