Effects of Different Oil Sources and Addition Levels on Pellet Feed Quality,Growth Performance and Meat Quality of Broilers
This experiment was conducted to study the effects of different oil sources and addition levels on pel-let feed quality, growth performance, meat quality and serum biochemical indices of broilers.A total of 960 white-feathered broilers of 1-day-old were randomly divided into 6 groups with 8 replicates per group and 20 broilers per replicate. In a two-factor experimental design, the dietary oil sources were soybean oil, extruded soybean and fat powder, and the oil addition levels were 3%and 5%,respectively.The experiment lasted for 42 days and was divided into two stages as earlier stage(1 to 21 days of age)and later stage(22 to 42 days of age). The results showed as follows:1)in terms of pellet feed quality, the pelleting rate, pellet durability index and hardness in fat powder group were significantly higher than those in the other 2 groups(P<0.05);compared with 3%addition level,5%addition level significantly decreased the pelleting rate, pellet durability index and hardness of pellet feed, and except for fat powder group, the pellet durability index of pellet feed in soybean oil group and expanded soybean group was significantly decreased(P<0.05),and both were lower than 90%.2)In terms of growth performance of broilers, compared with soybean oil group, the ratio of feed to gain in earlier stage in 5%fat powder group was significantly decreased(P<0.05);the average daily gain in later stage and the whole stage in expanded soybean group was significantly decreased(P<0.05).3)In terms of meat quality and serum biochemical indexes, compared with soybean oil group, the shear force and 24 h drip loss of breast muscle of broilers in fat powder group were significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the 24 h drip loss of breast muscle in expanded soybean group was significantly decreased(P<0.05);the serum triiodothyronine(T3)content and T3/thyroxine(T4)ratio in expanded soybean group and fat powder group were significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with 3%addition level,5%addition level significantly de-creased the shear force of breast muscle of broilers(P<0.05).In conclusion, the addition of 5%fat powder can improve the pellet feed quality, meat quality and thyroid function activity of broilers.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(3):1612-1627]
