Research on Improvement of Growth,Antioxidant Ability,Intestinal and Hepatic Function of Siniperca chuatsi by L-Carnitine
In order to investigate the effects of adding L-carnitine in diets on the growth, antioxidant ability, and intestinal and hepatic tissue and function of Siniperca chuatsi,a total of 270 fish with initial body weight of(53.98±1.32)g were divided into six groups(named as D0,D50,D100,D150,D200 and D250 groups)by adding L-carnitine at effective contents of 0,50,100,150,200 and 250 mg/kg into the basal diet of Sini-perca chuatsi, respectively. Each group consisted of three replicates with 15 fish per replicate for 56-day growth assays. Results showed as following:1)compared with D0 group, weight gain rate was significantly higher in the D100 group(P<0.05),feed conversion ratio was significantly lower in the D100 group(P<0.05);the weight gain rate in D250 group was significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the feed conversion ra-tio was significantly increased(P<0.05).2)Compared with D0 group, plasma alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase activities were significantly lower than those in the D100 group(P<0.05)and sig-nificantly higher in the D250 group(P<0.05).3)Compared with D0 group, plasma triglyceride and total cholesterol contents were significantly lower in all test groups(P<0.05);there was no significant difference in the contents of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol among groups(P>0.05),except that the content of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in D100 and D150 groups decreased sig-nificantly(P<0.05).4)Compared with D0 group, the activities of pepsin, trypsin, amylase, lipase and Na+-K+-ATPase were significantly increased in group D100(P<0.05).5)With the rise of L-carnitine addition,D-lactic acid content and diamine oxidase activity first decreased and then increased, and reached the lowest val-ues in the D150 and D100 groups, respectively, which were significantly lower than those in the D0 group(P<0.05),and endotoxin content was significantly decreased in all experimental groups(P<0.05).6)Com-pared with D0 group, plasma and hepatic total oxidizing capacity was significantly increased(P<0.05),and hepatic malondialdehyde content was significantly decreased in the D100 group(P<0.05).In addition,im-mune globulin M content was significantly increased in all test groups(P<0.05).7)Intestinal villus length and cuprocyte density were significantly higher in the D100 group compared with the D0 group(P<0.05),and the intestinal changes were not significant in the D250 group(P>0.05);myofibril diameters were significantly lower in the D100 and D250 groups(P<0.05),and myofibril densities were significantly higher(P<0.05),and the percentage of lipid droplets in hepatic tissue was significantly reduced compared with the D0 group(P<0.05).In summary,L-carnitine can promote the development of Siniperca chuatsi's intestinal tract, enhance the ability of digestion and absorption, improve the growth rate, and at the same time,it has the effect of im-proving immunity and muscle quality, reduces hepatic fatty deposits.Based on weight gain rate and feed con-version ratio as indicators, the appropriate amount of L-carnitine added to the diet of Siniperca chuatsi is deter-mined to be 79.27 to 80.61 mg/kg.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(3):1834-1845]
