Research Progress on Processing Technology and Nutritional Components of Cottonseed Protein and Its Application in Pig Production
China is a major player in feed production,ranking first in the world.However,key protein ingredi-ents such as soybeans heavily rely on imports.Therefore,it is particularly crucial to research and develop high-quality protein materials that can replace soybean meal.China has an abundant supply of cotton resources.The byproduct of cotton processing,cottonseed meal,is rich in proteins and amino acids.Further processed cotton-seed protein,with its high crude protein content,rich nutrition,and wide availability,can partially replace soybean meal and reduce feed costs.This article summarizes the classification,processing techniques,nutri-tional values,available energy,and amino acid digestibility of cottonseed protein,which can provide refer-ences for the further development and efficient use of cottonseed protein.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutri-tion,2024,36(4):2175-2187]
