Progress of Research on Weaning Stress in Calves and Nutritional Control Measures
Weaning plays a crucial role in the management strategy of dairy farms and can affect future calf performance and health.Weaning causes calf stress,which affects growth performance,gastrointestinal health and immune function.This paper describes the effects of weaning stress on calves and its mechanism from the aspects of growth performance,gastrointestinal health and immune function,and puts forward some scientific nutritional control measures,aiming to provide reference for alleviating calf weaning stress and promoting the healthy development of calves under modern large-scale dairy farming.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(5):2793-2803]
