Effects of Dietary Different Forms of Zinc on Plasma Biochemical Indices,Antioxidant Capacity and Immune Function of Broilers
This experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary different forms of zinc[inorganic zinc sulfate(ZnSO4)and zinc proteinate with moderate chelation strength(Zn-Prot M)]on plasma biochemical indices, antioxidant capacity and immune function of broilers.A total of 300 one-day-old male Arbor Acres broilers were fed a semi-purified diet without zinc from 1 to 13 days of age.At 14 days of age,a total of 240 broilers with similar body weight were selected and randomly divided into 3 groups with 8 replicates per group and 10 broilers per replicate according a completely randomized design.Broilers in the control group were fed a basal diet without zinc, and others in experimental groups were fed basal diets supplemented with 60 mg/kg ZnSO4 and Zn-Prot M(as zinc),respectively. The experiment lasted for 26 days. The results showed as fol-lows:1)dietary different forms of zinc had no significant effects on the albumin, triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol contents and aspartate transaminase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)activi-ties in plasma(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, dietary ZnSO4 and Zn-Prot M significantly de-creased the contents of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in plasma(P<0.05);compared with the ZnSO4 group, dietary Zn-Prot M significantly increased the contents of total protein and globulin in plasma(P<0.05),and significantly decreased the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol content and lactate dehy-drogenase activity in plasma(P<0.05).2)Compared with the control group, dietary ZnSO4 and Zn-Prot M significantly increased the total superoxide dismutase and copper zinc superoxide dismutase activities and total antioxidant capacity in plasma(P<0.05),and significantly decreased the plasma malondialdehyde content(P<0.05);compared with the ZnSO4 group, dietary Zn-Prot M significantly increased the activities of total superoxide dismutase and copper zinc superoxide dismutase in plasma(P<0.05),and significantly decreased the plasma malondialdehyde content(P<0.05).3)Dietary different forms of zinc had no significant effects on the contents of interleukin-6,immunoglobulin A and immunoglobulin G in plasma(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, dietary ZnSO4 and Zn-Prot M significantly decreased the plasma interleukin-1 β content(P<0.05);compared with the ZnSO4 group, dietary Zn-Prot M significantly increased the plasma interleukin-1βcontent(P<0.05).In conclusion, dietary ZnSO4 and Zn-Prot M significantly affect some plasma biochemical indices, such as total protein, globulin, total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol contents and lactate dehydrogenase activity, enhance the antioxidant capacity and immune function of broilers, and Zn-Prot M shows better effects than ZnSC4.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(5):2982-2991]
