Research Progress on Regulation of Intestinal Mucosal Development in Piglets by Maternal Transmission
Intestinal health is the core foundation for the rapid growth of piglets. The formation of the intestine begins in the embryonic period, the weight and shape of the intestinal tissue develop rapidly during lactation, and gradually mature after weaning.During the embryonic and lactation periods, maternal nutrients and micro-organisms are transmitted to the offspring through the placenta, vagina, breast milk and feces, which play an important role in the formation and development of the intestine.Taking maternal nutrition and microbial trans-mission as the breakthrough point, this paper focused on the development of intestinal mucosa morphology and function of piglets, elucidated the main pathways of maternal nutrition and microbial transmission, and revealed the regulatory mechanism of maternal nutrition and microorganisms on intestinal mucosa morphology and struc-ture and function of offspring,so as to provide a reference for optimizing maternal nutrition intervention meas-ures.It is of great scientific significance to improve the intestinal health and vitality of piglets.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(6):3438-3449]
