Effects of Capsaicin on Growth Performance,Rumen Fermentation Indices,Serum Biochemical Indices and Rumen Bacterial Flora of Fattening Hu Sheep
The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of capsaicin on growth performance, rumen fermentation indices, serum biochemical indices and rumen bacterial flora of fattening Hu sheep.Sixty fattening Hu sheep rams with(90±3)days of age, body weight of(22±2)kg and good body condition were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups with 3 replicates in each group and 10 rams in each replicate. The control group(CON group)was fed a basal diet, and the capsaicin group(CAP group)was fed the basal diet supple-mented with 150 g/t capsaicin. The pre-experimental period lasted for 10 days, and the experimental period lasted for 35 days. The results showed as follows:1)the final weight, average daily gain and dry matter intake of CAP group were significantly higher than those of CON group(P<0.05),and the feed to gain ratio was significantly lower than that of CON group(P<0.05).2)The rumen butyric acid content of CAP group was significantly higher than that of CON group(P<0.05).3)The serum slkaline phosphatase(ALP)activity and malondialdehyde(MDA)content of CAP group were significantly lower than those of CON group(P<0.05),and the serum immunoglobulin M(IgM)content was significantly higher than that of CON group(P<0.05).4)At phylum level, the relative abundances of Bacteroidota and Spirochaetota in rumen of CAP group were significantly higher than those of CON group(P<0.05),and the relative abundances of Proteobacteria and Cy-anobacteria in rumen were significantly lower than those of CON group(P<0.05).At genus level, the relative abundances of Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group,norank_f_F082,Prevotellaceae_UCG-001and Succiniclasticum in rumen of CAP group were significantly higher than those of CON group(P<0.05),and the relative abun-dances of Succinivibrionaceae_UCG-001 and norank_f_Selenomonadaceae in rumen were significantly lower than those of CON group(P<0.05).In conclusion, dietary capsaicin had positive effects on the growth per-formance of fattening Hu sheep, can improve the immune performance and antioxidant performance, increase the rumen bacteria diversity, increase the relative abundances of beneficial bacterial groups such as rumen fiber-degrading bacteria and proteolytic bacteria, and reduce the relative abundances of harmful bacterial groups, and maintain the rumen health.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(6):3823-3832]
