Effects of Saccharicter-Penin on Egg Laying Performance of Egg Pigeons,Quality and Nutritional Composition of Eggs
The experiment was conducted to study the effects of saccharicter-penin on the egg laying perform-ance of egg pigeons, quality and nutritional composition of eggs.A total of 2 000 pairs of 7-month-old White King pigeons were randomly divided into 5 groups(5 replicates in each group and 80 pairs in each replicate).Control group was fed a basal diet, while experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 250,500,750 and 1 000 mg/kg of saccharicter-penin,respectively.The experiment lasted for one year. The results showed as follows:1)compared with the control group, dietary 750 mg/kg saccharicter-penin significantly in-creased egg production(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference among other groups(P>0.05),and decreased the mortality rate.Taking the annual egg production of each group as the judgment index, according to the quadratic curve fitting analysis,776 mg/kg of saccharicter-penin was recommended.2)Compared with the control group, adding 750 mg/kg of saccharicter-penin to the diet significantly improved the color of pi-geon egg yolks(P<0.01),significantly increased egg yolk weight(P<0.05),and significantly reduced egg shape index and albumen weight(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in other egg quality indi-cators(P>0.05).3)Compared with the control group, adding 750 mg/kg of saccharicter-penin to diet can significantly increase the total amino acids and fatty acids contents in pigeon eggs, especially polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA)content(P<0.05),while the difference in cholesterol content was not significant(P>0.05).In conclusion,saccharicter-penin can improve the egg laying performance of egg pigeons, adding 750 mg/kg of saccharicter-penin has the best effect, which can improve egg yolk color, increase egg yolk weight, increase total amino acid and fatty acid contents, especially PUFA.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutri-tion,2024,36(8):5076-5084]
