Research Progress of Nutrients Alleviating Cadmium Stress in Aquatic Animals
As a non-essential trace metal, cadmium is one of the most toxic elements of heavy metals. At pres-ent,the problem of cadmium pollution for aquaculture in China is very serious. The increase of cadmium con-centration in the aquatic environment will affect the growth performance, antioxidant capacity, immunity of a-quatic animals, and indirectly cause harm to food safety and human health through the food chain.Adding nu-trients to the diet is one of the main ways to alleviate the cadmium stress, and nutrients include trace elements, polysaccharides, probiotics, proanthocyanidins, phenolic substances,vitamins,sulphur-containing amino acids and so on.This paper summarized the effects of cadmium stress on aquatic animals and the mitigating effects of different nutrients on cadmium stress. This work will provide a reference for reducing or eliminating the nega-tive effects of cadmium stress through nutrient supplementation, and provide a more detailed and systematic sci-entific basis for the establishment of healthy aquaculture technology.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(9):5486-5496]
