Effects of Sea Buckthorn Pomace Extract on Slaughter Performance,Meat Quality,Antioxidant Capability and Intestinal Health of Yellow-Feathered Broilers Fed Oxidized Soybean Oil
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of sea buckthorn pomace extract(SBPE)on slaughter performance, meat quality, liver antioxidant indices, intestinal mucosal morphology and structure, volatile fatty acid(VFA)content in cecal content and ileal microbiota of yellow-feather broilers fed oxidized soybean oil.Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS)meth-od was used to qualitatively analyze the active components of SBPE.A total of 400 healthy 1-day-old yellow-feathered broilers with an average body weight of 39 g were randomly divided into 5 groups with 10 replicates per group and 8 chickens per replicate(half male and half female).Broilers in the blank control group(BC group)were fed a basal diet containing common soybean oil, those in the oxidized control group(OX group)were fed a basal diet containing oxidized soybean oil,and those in the three SBPE groups were fed the basal di-et supplemented with 0.1%(0.1%SBPE group),0.2%(0.2%SBPE group)and 0.4%SBPE(0.4%SBPE group)in OX group, respectively. The experiment lasted for 63 days. The results showed as follows:1)SB-PE mainly contained flavonoids, lignans, terpenes, alkaloids, phenols and other bioactive components.2)There were no significant differences in slaughter performance indices, liver antioxidant indices and VFA con-tent in cecal content of broilers among all groups(P>0.05).3)The shear-force in breast muscle of broilers in 0.2%SBPE group was significantly higher than that in OX group(P<0.05).4)The villus height in jejunum of broilers in 0.2%SBPE group was significantly higher than that in BC group and OX group(P<0.05).5)Compared with BC group, the Chao1 index and number of operational taxonomic units(OTUs)in ileal micro-biota of broilers in OX group were significantly decreased(P<0.05);compared with OX group, the Chao1 index and number of OTUs in ileal microbiota in 0.1%SBPE group were extremely significantly increased(P<0.01).6)At the phylum level, compared with BC group, the Firmicutes relative abundance in ileal microbiota of broilers in 0.2%SBPE group and 0.4%SBPE group was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the Pro-teobacteria relative abundance in ileal microbiota in the three SBPE groups was significantly decreased(P<0.05).At the genus level, compared with BC group, the Lactobacillus relative abundance in ileal microbiota of broilers in 0.2%SBPE group and 0.4%SBPE group was extremely significantly increased(P<0.01);com-pared with OX group, the Lactobacillus relative abundance in ileal microbiota in 0.2%SBPE group was signifi-cantly increased(P<0.05),and the Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1 relative abundance in ileal microbiota in all SBPE groups was significantly decreased(P<0.05).In conclusion,SBPE can alleviate the degradation of meat quality and intestinal oxidative damage of yellow-feathered broilers caused by oxidized soybean oil,im-prove the species richness of intestinal microbiota, and improve the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria and reduce the relative abundance of harmful bacteria,so as to maintain intestinal health.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(9):5656-5668]
