Effects of Bacteriophage Preparation on Growth Performance,Immune Function and Antioxidant Capacity of Growing Male Minks
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of bacteriophage preparation on growth perform-ance,immune function and antioxidant capacity of growing male minks.Ninety-six 75-day-old growing male minks were randomly divided into 6 groups with 8 replicates per group and 2 minks per replicate.Minks in the control group were fed a basal diet, and others in experimental groups were fed the basal diets supplemented with 175,350,525,700 and 875 mg/kg bacteriophage preparation(Escherichia coli bacteriophage and Sal-monella bacteriophage compound preparation, their ratio was 1∶1,and the total titer was 109 PFU/g),respec-tively.The experiment lasted for 8 weeks, and was divided into period Ⅰ(weeks 1 to 4)and period Ⅱ(weeks 5 to 8).The result showed as follows:1)compared with the control group, dietary 525,700 and 875 mg/kg bacteriophage preparation significantly decreased the feed to gain ratio(F/G)and diarrhea rate during experimental period Ⅰ,experimental period Ⅱ and whole experimental period(P<0.05 or P<0.01),significantly increased the average daily gain(ADG)during experimental period Ⅱ and whole experimental period(P<0.01).2)Compared with the control group, dietary 700 and 875 mg/kg bacteriophage preparation significantly increased the contents of immunoglobulin A(IgA),immunoglobulin G(IgG)and immunoglobu-lin M(IgM)in serum(P<0.05 or P<0.01).3)Compared with the control group, dietary 700 mg/kg bacte-riophage preparation significantly decreased the serum malondialdehyde(MDA)content(P<0.05),signifi-cantly increased the serum glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)(P<0.05).4)Compared with the control group, dietary 875 mg/kg bacteriophage preparation significantly in-creased the spleen index and intestine to body ratio(I/B)(P<0.05),dietary 525 and 700 mg/kg bacterio-phage preparation significantly increased the kidney index(P<0.05).5)The quadratic curves were fitted by dietary bacteriophage preparation supplemental level with F/G during whole experimental period, diarrhea rate during whole experimental period, serum IgG content, and obtained that the dietary optimum supplemental lev-el of bacteriophage preparation for growing male minks was 777.90 to 942.21 mg/kg.Comprehensive consid-eration,it is suggested that the dietary supplemental level of bacteriophage preparation for growing male minks is 847.20 mg/kg.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(11):7284-7293]
