Change Rules of Serum Biochemical,Immune and Antioxidant Indexes in Dairy Cows at Different Physiological Stages
This experiment was conducted to study the change rules of serum biochemical, immune and antiox-idant indexes in dairy cows at different physiological stages.Using a randomized grouping design, six physio-logical stages of dairy cows were selected, which were prepartum period, late perinatal period, early lactation, middle lactation, late lactation, and dry period, with 30 dairy cows in each stage,a total of 180 dairy cows. Before morning feeding, blood samples were collected from the tail vein of dairy cows at different physiologi-cal stages, and serum was prepared to determine biochemical, immune and antioxidant indexes. The results showed as follows:1)physiological stage had significant effects on the serum biochemical indexes of dairy cows(P<0.05),and the changes were more obvious in the late perinatal period and early lactation period. The contents of serum total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein(LDL),high density lipoprotein(HDL),total protein(TP),urea(UN),albumin(ALB),calcium(Ca),phosphorus(P)and the activity of alanine transaminase(ALT)were lower, and the contents of free fatty acid(NEFA),total bilirubin(TBIL),β-hydroxybutyric acid(BHBA)and the activity of aspartate aminotransferase(AST)of dairy cows at the late perinatal period were higher. The serum TC,NEFA,HDL,TP,ALB contents and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)activity of dairy cows at the early lactation period were higher.2)Physiological stage had significant effects on the activities of thioredoxin reductase(TrxR),total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),catalase(CAT),total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)and malondialdehyde(MDA)content in serum of dairy cows(P<0.05).Serum GSH-Px,CAT activities and MDA content were higher,T-AOC and T-SOD activity of dairy cows were lower at the late perinatal period and the early lactation period, and serum TrxR activity was lower at the late perinatal period.3)Physiological stage had significant effects on the contents of interferon-γ(IFN-γ),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),immuno-globulin G(IgG),nitric oxide(NO)and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)activity in serum of dairy cows(P<0.05).The contents of TNF-α and IL-1β in serum of dairy cows were higher at the late perinatal pe-riod and the early lactation period. At the same time, the serum NO content and iNOS activity of dairy cows were higher, and the INF-γ and IgG contents were lower at the late perinatal period. In summary, during the late perinatal period and the early lactation period, the immunity and antioxidant capacity of dairy cows are de-creased.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(12):7788-7798]
