Effects of Combination of Clostridium butyricum and Different Additives on Growth Performance,Nutrient Apparent Digestibility and Serum Biochemical,Antioxidant and Immune Indices of Fattening Cattle
This study was to investigate the effects of combination of Clostridium butyricum and different addi-tives on growth performance, nutrient apparent digestibility and serum biochemical, antioxidant and immune indices of fattening cattle.Forty healthy Simmental crossbred cattle weighing around 600 kg were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups with 10 cattle in each group based on the principle of weight, fatness and hair color. The control group(CK group)was fed a basal diet, the Clostridium butyricum group(CB group)was fed the basal diet+24 g/(d·head)Clostridium butyricum, the Clostridium butyricum+Saccharomyces cerevi-siae group(CB+SC group)was fed the basal diet+24 g/(d·head)Clostridium butyricum+10 g/(d·head)Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and the Clostridium butyricum+cellulase group(CB+CL group)was fed the basal diet+24 g/(d·head)Clostridium butyricum+1 g/(d·head)cellulase.The pre-experimental period lasted for 7 days, and the experimental period lasted for 60 days. The results showed as follows:1)the feed to gain ratio of CB+SC group was significantly lower than that of CK group(P<0.05).2)On day 60,the dry matter ap-parent digestibility of CB+SC and CB+CL groups was significantly higher than that of CK group(P<0.05),and the neutral detergent fiber apparent digestibility of CB,CB+SC and CB+CL groups was significantly high-er than that of CK group(P<0.05).3)On day 30,the total serum protein(TP)content of CB+CL group was significantly higher than that of CK group(P<0.05).On day 60,the serum albumin(ALB)content of CB+SC and CB+CL groups was significantly higher than that of CK group(P<0.05).On day 30 and day 60,the serum low-density lipoprotein(LDL)content of CB,CB+SC and CB+CL groups was significantly lower than that of CK group(P<0.05).4)On day 30 and day 60,the serum malondialdehyde(MDA)content of CB,CB+SC and CB+CL groups was significantly lower than that of CK group(P<0.05).On day 60,the se-rum glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity of CB and CB+SC groups was significantly higher than that of CK group(P<0.05),the serum superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity of CB+SC group was significantly higher than that of CK group(P<0.05),and the serum total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)of CB group was significantly higher than that of CK group(P<0.05).5)On day 60,the serum tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)content of CB+SC group was significantly lower than that of CK group(P<0.05).In conclusion,it is recommended to select the combination of Clostridium butyricum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae in the diet of Simmental fattening cattle, with the addition amount of 24 g/(d·head)Clostridium butyricum+10 g/(d·head)Saccharomyces cerevisiae.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(12):7829-7839]
