Effects of Dietary Crude Protein Levels on Growth Performance,Nutrient Apparent Digestibility and Serum Biochemical Indices of Dezhou Donkeys in Pre-Breeding Stage
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of dietary crude protein levels on growth per-formance,nutrient apparent digestibility and serum biochemical indices of Dezhou donkeys in pre-breeding stage.Twenty-four healthy 11-month-old Dezhou male donkeys with similar body weight of(165±1)kg were randomly divided into 3 groups with 8 replicates in each group and 1 donkey in each replicate.Donkeys in 3 groups were fed with granules total mixed diets with basically same digestive energy(about 11.50 MJ/kg)and crude protein levels of 11.64%(group L),13.40%(group M)and 14.87%(group H),respectively. The pre-experimental period lasted for 10 days, and the experimental period lasted for 39 days. The results showed as follows:1)the average daily gain of group M was significantly higher than that of group H(P<0.05),and the weight gain benefit of group L and group M was significantly higher than that of group H(P<0.05).2)The crude protein apparent digestibility of group H was significantly higher than that of group L and group M(P<0.05),the ether extract apparent digestibility of group M was significantly lower than that of group L and group H(P<0.01),the hemicellulose apparent digestibility of group M and group H was significantly higher than that of group L(P<0.01),and the non-fibrous carbohydrate apparent digestibility of group M and group H was significantly lower than that of group L(P<0.05).3)The serum urea nitrogen content of group H was significantly higher than that of group L and group M(P<0.01),while there were no significant differences in other serum biochemical indices among all groups(P>0.05).In conclusion, the average daily gain and weight gain benefit are better when the dietary crude protein level is 13.40%of Dezhou donkeys in pre-breeding stage, and has little impact on serum biochemical indices.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2024,36(12):7891-7899]
