Virtual Student Mobility in the Internationalization of Higher Education:International Experience and Chinese Practice
Virtual student mobility complements and extends physical mobility,serving as a crucial means for the sustainable development of higher education internationalization. Global virtual student mobility continues to grow,catalyzed by the realistic difficulties of traditional student mobility,the value of virtual student mobility,and external situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The international experience of developing virtual student mobility in higher education can be summarized as follows:incorporating virtual student mobility into internationalization strategies,joining virtual exchange alliances,incorporating virtual student mobility programs into university curriculum systems,and counting and monitoring virtual student mobility data. As a major higher education country worldwide,China has continuously improved its virtual learning environment,improved the quality of virtual courses,and accumulated practical experience in virtual exchanges. These measures have promoted students virtual mobility in China.In the future,the global higher education system can promote the development of virtual student mobility by constructing quality monitoring indicators,providing financial and technical support,and developing mixed student mobility models.
