Titanium-oxygen cluster modified with phenylphosphonate and salicylate,[Ti6(3-O)2(2-O)4(PhPO3)2(SA)2(OiPr)10](SA=salicylate),was synthesized by solvent-thermal method and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy,UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis.Single-crys-tal structure analysis showed that the cluster is a hexanuclear{Ti6O4}titanium-oxygen cluster with a symmetric center con-structed by phenylphosphonate ligand bridging two{Ti3(3-O)}subunits,and there is a tetragonal{Ti6P2}framework con-figuration in the molecular structure. This cluster has high thermal stability and good solvent resistance.Furthermore,be-cause of the band gap of 2.49 eV and the photocurrent density of 0.46 μAcm-2,the synthesized cluster exhibited good photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue(MB).
