Reference [3] compared the average length of confidence intervals for the mean of a single normal population in both cases where the variance is known and unknown.This article uses the relationship between hypothesis testing and interval estimation to provide a method for comparing the average lengths of unbiased confidence intervals,and applies it to comparing the average lengths of two confidence intervals for a single normal population mean.
