The separation and integration of the discourses of the"Chinese-style modernization"and"great rejuve-nation of the Chinese nation"
Proposed respectively from the perspectives of Chinese modernization history and the development history of the Chi-nese nation,the two related and different concepts of"Chinese-style modernization"and"great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation"were both originated in the early stage of reform and opening up.Having their relatively independent processes of brewing,generating and constructing,the two discourses are"separate".Generally presented in the con-text of appearance-exit-restart,the concept of"Chinese-style modernization"was put forward at the end of the 1970s,and was written into the report of the Party Congress for more than 40 years until the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.The term"the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation"appeared in newspapers in the early 1980s and was quickly included in the report of the 13th National Congress,rising to become a frequently used popular term.The"integration"is reflected in the"four coupling"between the historical positioning of the primary stage of socialism,the general task of socialism with Chinese characteristics,the central task of the new journey of the CPC and the expression of"the key lies in the party"to realize the great dream.It is necessary to construct a histori-cal narrative of"promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese path to modernization"on the basis of integrating the previous discourse of modernization("industrialization,four modernizations,and socialist mod-ernization")and the discourse of national rejuvenation("stand up,get rich,and become strong").
