What are the most significant achievements in economics during the twentieth century?This article offers a summary of and commentaries on the major works thoughtfully identified by some leading economists at the very beginning of the twenty-first century.The works cover general equilibrium analysis,game theory and analysis of imperfectly competitive markets and problems with incomplete information,the national income accounting system and the Keynesian economics,the macro-econometrics of business cycles,public choice,and law and economics.In particular,attempts are made in the present article toward a Whig interpretation of what hap-pened in the study of some main themes in economics over the one hundred years or so.
