The construction of independent knowledge system for international communication in the context of Chinese path to modernization
The construction of independent knowledge system for international communication needs to be based on the de-westernization and de-colonization of current popular international communication theories,fully recognizing their biases as Cold War social sciences and the structural contradictions and confrontational practices they contain.Based on the elaboration of three frontier research fields,namely,academic consciousness of returning to China,historical consciousness of focusing on culture,and practical consciousness of focusing on technology,this paper proposes that the independent knowledge system for international communication in the new era should be constructed from five dimensions,namely,taking Chinese path to modernization as the meta-dis-course,taking communicative justice as the goal of struggle,taking friendship as the logic of the united front,tak-ing the mind of the world as the cultural spirit,and taking technological innovation as the developmental orienta-tion.At the same time,the paper argues that it is necessary to carefully handle the binary logic between openness and independence,and avoid falling into the trap of cultural nationalism and methodological nationalism.
