Marxism's sublation of Western modernization and its enlightenment on Chinese path to modernization
Modernization theory was once discussed in the context of capitalist modernity.Marx and his successors,through their criticism of capitalist society,revealed the historical logic that"human modernization"will inevi-tably replace"capital modernization".Marxism provides the fundamental philosophical foundation for reflecting on and surpassing the idealistic tendency of"historical teleology"in Western modernization theory,including the philosophical sprouts and potential for constructing a new modernization theory,and will pragmatically pro-mote the new development of modernization theory and practice.Chinese path to modernization is the era crys-tallization of Marxist modernization theory.It is also bound to be the profound reflection and positive sublation of the Western modernization road on the new historical conditions.It is also the historical inevitable process that the CPC,as a Marxist party,combines theory with practice,constantly observes and innovates,and pushes the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics to a higher stage.In the perspective of historical materialism opened up by Marx,it is a realistic need to re read Marx and answer how the contemporary Marxism with Chinese characteristics can develop both the practice and theory of western modernization.It is of great signifi-cance to promote the process of Chinese path to modernization to carry forward the sprout of modernization theory in Marx's thought and tap the potential of Marxism as the guidance of new modernization theory.
