Several issues on Lu Xun and the Anti-Japanese War
On the eve of the outbreak of the full-scale Anti-Japanese War,Lu Xun,as the national soul, became the ban-ner calling for the entire nation to resist. However,in the history of Lu Xun's study,Lu Xun's research on the war has been nearly overlooked. The primary reason is that the July 7th Incident at Lugou Bridge in 1937 has long been regarded as the starting point of the Anti-Japanese War,whereas Lu Xun passed away in 1936,objectively creating a misconception that Lu Xun had no direct connection with the war.The direct consequence of this neglect in Lu Xun's war resistance research is the inability to respond to the"questioning"from histori-cal nihilism about Lu Xun's attitude towards Japan's invasion of China. They label Lu Xun as a"pro Japanese faction"or even suggest that he colluded with the enemy. In the current historical context of recognizing the 14-year duration of the Anti-Japanese War,attaching importance to the study of Lu Xun's resistance against Japan can help promote and expand the research on resistance against Japan. As a national cultural warrior,Lu Xun's anti aggression struggle had an important characteristic of his unique personal character, that is,Lu Xun's resistance was an independent and self reliant action that did not rely on official or any political forces. This is specifically manifested in four ways. The first is its foresight and foreseeability.Lu Xun's opposition to Japanese aggression began during the Russo Japanese War in the early 20th century, nearly 30 years before the September 18 Incident, and ran through his entire life with the historical process of anti aggression in modern China's salvation and survival. The second is to use ideological and spiritual enlightenment to transform nation-al character, awaken national consciousness, and unite the power of the people; The third is to criticize the ruling group for compromising, yielding, selling out,and surrendering; The fourth is to advocate learning from the strengths of the enemy and attaching importance to united front work against the enemy.
