Analysis of velocity ratio variation characteristics of the 2012 Xinyuan-Hejing MS 6.6 earthquake by the Wadati method
Based on the digital seismic observation reports of seismic stations in Xinjiang,we analyze the variation of wave velocity ratio before and after the MS 6.6 earthquake at the junction of Xinyuan and Hejing in 2012 using the Wadati method of single station and the multiple-station. According to the results,① The multi-station Hodges method revealed that before the MS 6.6 earthquake at the boundary of Xinyuan and Hejing, there was a low-value anomaly in the wave velocity ratio in the epicentral region, which returned to normal after the earthquake;② The single-station Hodges method calculation results indicated that the stations with abnormal wave velocity ratios were mainly distributed in the west and north of the epicenter, and the abnormal pattern was primarily characterized by high-low value jumps, lasting only 11 days;③ According to calculated velocity ratio in different directions of the stations, velocity ratio anomalies show a typical evolutionary process of abnormally low value-resumption-earthquake. Therefore, seismic velocity ratio anomalies before earthquake may be closely related to the seismogenic zone of strong earthquakes.
