Lu Jianzeng and Case of Salt Tax in the Reign of Qianlong
Thirty-three years of Qianlong(1768),the case of salt tax in Yangzhou was disclosed.Emperor Qianlong attached great importance to it and thought the case must be a major corruption case.So he ordered the prime minister and the governor to investigate the case thoroughly.Before the case concluded,salt official Lu Jianzeng was hanged,died in prison.But the main persons of interest were Gao Heng and Pufu.On a large number of historical materials to research on the historical truth,it appears that Lu Jianzeng has been wrongly accused.The reason was Qing court wanted to crack down on influemce of Lu jianzeng.Prime minister Liu Tongxun exonerated him,and the case was finally settled.
