Development Rules of Metro-Led Underground Public Space:A Case Study of Shanghai City
With the rapid development of urban rail transit,a large amount of metro-led underground public space(UPS)has been built in China's major cities. However,China's metro-led UPS development has been little documented, and its temporal development rules have been ignored.Taking 91 metro-led UPS cases in Shanghai as study cases, this work analyzed their temporal and spatial development rules in order to provide reference for underground space development in other Chinese cities. The results show that potential commercial returns and the promotion of transit-oriented development patterns are two important motivation of metro-led UPS development in Shanghai. The temporal and spatial distribution rule is basically consistent with the urbanization development process of the city.Urban location, functional positioning of metro stations and metro-led area development are the three vital influential factors of the site selection of metro-led UPS.Station agglomeration planning patterns should be avoided during the layout planning. To ensure the implementation of underground space connectivity planning,it is advisable to select the single-level connectivity pattern or the multi-level connectivity I pattern,of which the intermediary space is public ownership space.
