Weiming Series made ground-breaking efforts in the translation of Russian literature primarily and Soviet literature and art at the same time.The translation selections in Weiming Series can be attributed to three factors,namely,the fame of Russian literature around the world,the respect for Russian and Soviet literature and literary criticism by the Zhou Brothers and similarity between Chinese and Russian national conditions and affinity of Chinese and Russian literature.Weiming Series selected Russian literature,which is marked by"spirit of investigation and query"and"rousing their citizens by imperceptible tears and sadness",and revolutionary and advanced Soviet literature and literary criticism.The translation of Weiming Series can shed light on the features of mutual learning between civilizations.Mutual learning between civilizations depends on the demands of the receiving culture first and foremost and can be stimulated by cultural similarities.Moreover,it is selective appropriation based on academic networks.
