The aristocratic uprising led by the Decembrists had a far-reaching impact on Russian history, but the Decembrists kept separated from their times and people,so their behavior followed the model of romantic literary protagonist. When the Decembrist poet Ryleev wrote his poem Voynarovsky,he portrayed a tragic hero, and depicted the meeting of the main character Voynarovsky with Miller,a scholar who was exploring Siberia, and the Decembrist Alexander Bestuzhev, who was dedicated by the poem, was also exiled to Siberia.Corresponding to the plot of the poem,Bestyuzhev also met a German scholar Erman, and he assisted the latter in the same way as Voynarovsky did.Bestyuzhev therefore turned from a literary protagonist to a writer of Siberia, and the poems and essays, which he and his comrades wrote on the frontier, had a significant impact on Russian empire construction and national identification.
