The monograph Inside the Flames:Poetry by Hai Zi written by the author was published in Russia in 2021,and this paper discusses the problems related to the translation of Haizi's poems based on the author's translation practice:the first part introduces the translator's strategy of selecting poems;the second part explains the two orientations of translation;the third part analyzes the significance of the monograph for translation of contemporary Chinese poems in Russia.In the process of selecting poems,the translator has adopted two options:focusing on the study of the poet and on the poems themselves.Accordingly,the translation of the poems shows two orientations:"research"and"aesthetic".Finally,based on the current situation of the dissemination and translation of contemporary Chinese poetry in Russia,the author believes that Inside the Flames:Poetry by Hai Zi belongs to the intermediate stage of the process of translation of contemporary Chinese poetry into Russian.The translator's reflection on the translation process provides reference for Russian-Chinese poetry translation.
