Application of intraperitoneal chemotherapy for peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer
Targeted treatment of patients with peritoneal metastasis(PM)from gastric cancer(GC)has constantly evolved.Various delivery modes of intraperitoneal chemotherapy(IPC)may pass through plasma-peritoneal barrier to reach PM sites not accessible by systemic chemotherapy.And cytoreductive surgery plus hyperthermic IPC is currently the most effective treatment for PM.IPC has demonstrated some promising clinical efficacies in four different treatment modalities of prophylactic,neoadjuvant,adjuvant and palliative.It is now possible to select reasonable types of intraperitoneal and systemic treatments according to general conditions and peritoneal disease burden,thus providing individualized treatments.This reviews summarized the latest researches,clinical indications and development prospects of intraperitoneal IPC in different treatment modalities.
