Fractal characteristics and influencing factors of tight reservoirs in Shanxi Formation in southern Ordos Basin
In order to study the microscopic physical properties of tight reservoirs in the southern Ordos Basin, taking Shanxi Formation in the study area as an example, the authors introduced the fractal theory to quantitatively analyze the microscopic physical properties and pore-throat characteristics of tight reservoirs in the study area based on mercury injection data, cast thin sections, and core data. The results show as follows:1)The distribution range of component shape dimension in Shanxi Formation is mainly 2.15~2.81,indicating that the reservoir micro-pores have strong heterogeneity.2)A good correlation exists between the differential shape dimension and various physical parameters of reservoir rock in the study area. Therefore, the fractal dimension can reflect the microscopic pore characteristics quantitatively. The smaller the fractal dimension, the better the reservoir's physical property and heterogeneity and the stronger the flow capacity.3)The fractal dimension row number can quantitatively characterize the microscopic physical characteristics of the reservoir,so the fractal dimension can be used to classify and evaluate the reservoir.4)The main factors affecting the physical properties of tight reservoirs are sedimentary facies and the mineral composition of rocks. The above results provide the theoretical basis for the next step of stable production development in the study area.
