For a long time, area studies and polit-ical science have been closely related. Now that area studies has become a primary discipline, there is a signif-icant opportunity for mutual progress between political sci-ence and area studies. The dialogue and connection be-tween the research methods of these two disciplines will play a crucial role.Field research,a commonly used method in area studies, can serve as an important meth-odological bridge linking area studies and political science. However, traditional field research methods, due to issues such as the small number of cases, limited types of information, and an emphasis on internal valid-ity,have had their scientific rigor questioned by political science researchers, leading to a gap between the two disciplines. Therefore, the concept of a"mixed field re-search path"has been proposed, aiming to integrate commonly used field research methods in area studies with hypothesis testing, process tracing, multiple posi-tioning,and other techniques from political science re-search methods. The"mixed field research method"can effectively enhance the argumentative power of field re-search and foster further synergy between area studies and political science.Through two specific field research cases, this study demonstrates the practical application of the"mixed field research method".
