Data Centric Knowledge Production:A New Paradigm for University Knowledge Production in the Digital Age
Universities are the field of knowledge production,and the mode of knowledge production in universities has always been in a dynamic evolution.Digital technology has expanded the complexity of knowledge production in universities,forming a"fourth paradigm"of knowledge production characterized by"data centric knowledge production".The overall characteristics of university knowledge production in the digital age are data intensive,virtual real interaction,human-machine collaboration,and interdisciplinary.However,due to the speed,penetration,depersonalization,and opacity of digital technology,there are also various problems in university knowledge production,such as weakened subject creativity,inability to solve complex value problems,and risks of data security and technological loss of control.Empowering university knowledge production with digital technology plays an important role in breaking the traditional quality of knowledge production factors,improving the quality and efficiency of university knowledge production,and forming a"new quality productivity"for innovative development of universities.To this end,universities need to take data elements as the core and form a"digital productivity"for university knowledge production;need to use organizational and institutional construction as a guarantee to stimulate the momentum of knowledge production in universities;need to be guided by mainstream human values to ensure critical thinking on university knowledge production.
