The Contemporary Value of Lao Tzu's Philosophy of Concealment
One of the consequences of Western modernity is the flood of"light"and the loss of the"charm"of the true world in our time.We should reflect on the shortcomings of"the violence of light"and"visual culture,"and propose"anti-phenomenology"for Western phenomenology, and"concealment knowledge"for"image hegemony,"highlighting the positive value of"concealment"and"obscureness."By reinterpreting Lao Tzu's philosophy,we aim to construct a kind of"concealing-philosophy."Its core value is to protect or save the meaning of"non-visuality"or"invisibility."On the basis of"concealment,"let the world"regain its charm"and help all things hide. Therefore, the reconstruction of"concealing-philosophy"has important hermeneutic, aesthetic and global significance. The philosophy of concealment is also a bold attempt to establish a"system-distinguishing-from-Western-discourse"in order to increase the diversity of world culture and maintain the uniqueness of Chinese civilization.
