Stone Inscription and Chinese Administration:Taking King Haotai Stone Tablet as an Example
King Haotai Stone Tablet, erected at the turn of the fourth and fifth centuries in Ji'an County,Jilin Province,is an important material for studying the history of Gaogouli.Unlike the traditional view of treating this monument as a monument commemorating achievements, this article believes that the main nature of this monument is the register documents in Chinese administration. The focus of the inscription is on the system of tomb guardians in the third part, which detailed how the King of Gaogouli expropriated the"Yanhu"of the labor force from the conquered group and legally possessed them as tomb guardians. The inscription,as a religious contract, was written in the Chinese language of the East Asian universal writing system at that time and engraved on the stone tablet, showcasing it to the tribal leaders of Gaogouli and foreign countries such as Xinluo,Baiji, and Wo.
