An Analysis of the Real and False "Jing Jie" of Buddhism as well as their Relations with Literature
In Buddhism,there are real "Jing Jie" and false "Jing Jie." Both of them have a close relationship with the "Jing Jie" in literature.In addition to discussing the false "Jing Jie," more attention should be paid to the real "Jing Jie" in Buddhism which have a greater influence than the former on the "Jing Jie" in literature.Thus it should start with the overall cognitions of the "Jing Jie" of Buddhism when researching the origin of "Jing Jie" in literature.The "Jing Jie" of Buddhism had a comprehensive and profound influence on the "Jing Jie" in literature,which not only showed the rich characteristics of the realm of inner spirit,but also greatly expanded the spiritual space and subjective world of Chinese ancients.More importantly,with the prosperity of the mind-nature theory of Buddhism during the Sui and Tang dynasties,their interpretations of the functions of the heart answered many fundamental questions of the heart and the spiritual realms.The innovation of the relationship between heart and Myriad Dharmas affirmed the reality of what were produced by the hearts of ordinary people,and pointed out the way to leap from the false "Jing Jie" to real "Jing Jie." Moreover,the recognition of various characteristics of the real "Jing Jie," the requirements for various ways of experiencing the "Jing Jie" of Buddha,and its high praise of human subjectivity at the spiritual level were all closely related to the "Jing Jie" in literature.Thus the emergence of the "Jing Jie" in ancient literary theory has a profound Buddhist origin.
