Effects of Drought Stress on Root Morphology & Biomass Allocation of Betula maximowicziana
Effect of drought stress on root morphology, diameter scale of root system, height growth biomass allocation of Betula maximowicziana by four artificially controlled moisture gradients were studied.Result shows that root system morphology construction of Betula maximowicziana were influenced markedly by soil moisture stress.Biomass average diameter of root system in Betula maximowicziana decreased with the reduction of soil moisture.Light moderate stress reduced the total root length, root surface area special root length, while they were raised in heavy stress conditions by increasing the number of fine roots(root diameter below 0.5 mm).Drought stress reduced the seedling height biomass of Betula maximowicziana, but significantly raised its root-shoot ratio.
