Study on Daily Activity Patterns of Three Ant Species in Loess Region of Northwest Shanxi
In order to explore the daily activity patterns of ant species in loess region of northwest Shanxi and their response to temperature,Taking Formica sinensis,Camponotus japonicus and Monomorium chinense as the research objects, the daily changes of the number of ants entering and going out of the hole was analyzed by using the sample survey method. The correlation between the daily activity patterns of ants and temperature was analyzed by unary linear regression. The results showed as follows:the activity capacity of the three ant species was the lowest at 8:00 a.m.,and then the activity capacity increased significantly, reaching the peak at around 16:00;there was a positive correlation between the daily activity patterns of Camponotus japonicus and temperature, but the daily activity pat-terns of Formica sinensis and Monomorium chinense had no correlation with temperature.
