Progeny Determination and Early Selection of Acacia cincinnata Families
In order to study the growth adaptability and difference of different families of Acacia cincinnata in Fujian Province, the investigation of growth traits and the early selection of excellent families were carried out in the proge-ny test forest of three-year-old half-sib families. The results showed that the average tree height, ground diameter and crown width of the offspring of the three-year-old Acacia cincinnata family were 194.28±52.55 cm,39.59± 14.82 mm and 142.95±31.65 cm,respectively. The growth of the family was larger and the overall growth was better.Statistical analysis showed as follows:there were significant differences in tree height, ground diameter and crown growth among different families progeny;Acacia cincinnata was greatly influenced by genetic control, and the heritability h2 of tree height, ground diameter and crown width were 48.19%,88.14%and 50.02%,respectively.Through cluster analysis,20 families could be divided into three types. The first type was the superior growth type, including five families which were SSE9,SSE11,SSE13,NP17 and RD30,respectively.These families could be used as excellent germplasm materials for production and application. The second type was medium growth type, which could be further observed and selected. The third type was the lower growth type, and its growth was poor.In terms of development and utilization, the potential beyond the growth index could be tapped.
